FLORIDA RESOURCES
Literacy Essentials and Reading Network (LEaRN)LEaRN is a website for principals, reading coaches, and classroom teachers to access scientifically based reading instruction being implemented in a classroom through video clippings. Educators will also have the opportunity to view actual live commentary by reading experts. LEaRN focuses on the practice of teaching reading, on information and visible teaching examples that are directly applicable to classroom activities. The objective of LEaRN is to provide users with a comprehensive, applied tool that provides scientifically research-based information and best practices on reading instruction. This resource now includes Florida Assessments for Instruction in Reading (FAIR) resources, such as presentation task overviews, video clips on how to administer FAIR tasks, etc. This resource can be found at:

K-12 Reading Walkthrough
The Florida RWT was created in collaboration with the Florida Center for Reading Research and the Center on Instruction to provide a structure for school administrators for the regular viewing of the indicators of effective classroom reading instruction through brief classroom visits. The Florida RWT provides a framework for organizing and analyzing data to facilitate reflective, focused dialogue about the teaching and learning of reading with the goal of improved student learning and achievement. Districts have included within their K-12 Reading Plans the commitment to utilize a reading walk through tool as an opportunity for principals to view classroom reading instruction, reflect on the collegial conversations prompted by the walk through, and target professional development within the school. This resource can be found at http://www.justreadflorida.com/readingwalkthrough/.
Student Center Activities Search Tool
Just Read, Florida! funded the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) to create student center activities for use in kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms. These materials have been distributed to all elementary schools in the state of Florida, and also can be accessed via a new search tool online at http://www.fcrr.org/FAIR_Search_Tool/FAIR_Search_Tool.aspx. This tool has been expanded to include student center activity alignment to state adopted core reading program curriculum maps, and is currently being expanded to include resources/workstations for grades 6-12.
K-12 Reading Plan
The Florida Legislature continues to make history in ensuring that an allocation for reading is provided through the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP). Recommended by Governor Bush and the State Board of Education, this action makes reading a permanent priority and will ensure that reading is funded annually as a part of the public school funding formula. The authority for this provision was established in 2006 law within section 1011.62, Florida Statutes.
In order to receive this reading funding, districts were required to write a K-12 Comprehensive Research-Based Reading Plan. The plan must ensure the provision of:
Each district reading plan can be found at the following website: https://app1.fldoe.org/Reading_Plans/
There is also a wealth of additional information housed on the Just Read, Florida! website (http://www.justreadflorida.com/)
